WALC Grants Awarded

The WALC Board loves grant time! We get to see what others are up to in the world of breastfeeding and we get to support it! Below are some of the projects in Wisconsin that WALC supports through our grant program.

Maroon Calabash was awarded a grant to support their multi-faceted plan that includes:

  • conducting community assessments and interviews to more deeply understand local family’s experiences and areas of need and advocacy support, and to inform curriculum development for their breastfeeding/chestfeeding virtual community
  • development of a strong, gender-inclusive, and culturally aligned curriculum. This will include an active/live local breastfeeding resource hub, Black centered breastfeeding/chestfeeding content, newsletters, virtual conversations, contests, and celebration spaces.

Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department (DHHS) was awarded a grant towards the purchase of a chair, locking cabinet and a mini-refrigerator for the employee lactation room in the Sheriff’s Department. We are happy to support employees that choose to provide human milk to their babies with a lactation room that is available to employees 24/7!

Additional individual grants were awarded towards 1st time IBCLC exam fees and CLC course attendance.

Congratulations to all grant recipients! Thank you for all you are doing to meet families where they are and for all you do to support them.
