Membership Committee: Sandy Testin reported 145 members. She will organize a few people to develop a written description of member benefits.

WALC has a yahoo list serve. Ruth Sweet moderates or you can ask for membership at Yahoo.

Conference Committee:

It is important for our members to know that the financial success of our conferences has been the major source of income for WALC. This has made it possible for WALC to support continuing education for Wisconsin breastfeeding support personnel by off setting some of their costs to attend the ILCA conferences. It also provides money for our out reach of lactation assistance through out the state. Currently we purchase a Hale book for each WALC member to donate within their community. Each book costs about $26, more than your membership costs!

Please actively support our WALC conference.

Resources: Kris Walleser All of the old tapes were sold. We are now actively soliciting donations of appropriate materials for our library.

Scholarships Committee: Scholarships are available to off set some of the expenses for prospective Lactation Consultants. Winnie Madding is the contact for information.

Officer elections in 2007 Kathie Russell began as treasurer last year and will continue through the next 2 year term. Cindy Dibb, will not continue as president when her term is over. Another member will be elected for the following term, but will begin first working with Cindy. Please volunteer yourself or another member by contacting one of the board members.

New Business:

Tom Hale’s book Medications and Mother’s Milk was distributed to attending members and sent with those people to their colleagues. The intent is to distribute the book to places where its content is needed. It is not intended for member’s personal use. Books will be mailed to those people who cannot attend meetings. Because of the dramatic increase in mailing costs, it is hoped to keep this minimal. Please contact Sandy Testin if you can help keep these costs down.

Tax Exempt Status. We continue work on this project.

We will add a business meeting to the May clinic day. In order fit this in, each of the three speakers will have an hour for presentation (cerps will then be 3.6 rather than 4) and the meeting will be kept to 45 minutes.

A problem with our web site was flagged at the beginning of these minutes. Contact Cindy Dibb with suggestions.

Mothers’ Milk Association of Wisconsin (MMAW):

Women in Wisconsin are bringing their extra frozen milk to one of the two depot sites. The frozen milk is sent to Columbus Ohio for processing and storage. It will be available for Wisconsin needs when requested.

Further information is available at 608-333-4955 and http://www.mothersmilkwisconsin.org/

The meeting was adjourned at 1325 PM.
