Officer elections in 2007 Please volunteer yourself or someone you know for one of vacancies. The only open role is for the president. While the other positions are currently filled, it is always possible to write in a new candidate.

The presidential office may seem overwhelming, but all the past presidents agree that it is a manageable and enjoyable job. Attending all meetings is the main obligation and even that can be negotiated. The Board currently meets one hour prior to each WALC meeting but most of the communicating is done by email.

Tax Exempt Status We now have confirmation that we are a Professional Organization, and in Wisconsin, that means that we are not eligible for tax exempt status. Our tax status is called 501-C6, which is what our tax accountant used previously. Cindy has written out the information that she obtained from two well informed lawyers and this information will be retained with our other materials.

New Business:

Cindy Dibb announced her early resignation due to changes in her employment status. Carol Cox will cover this position for the interim and provide guidance for the newly elected president.

Anne Altshuler showed a booklet done by the WI Plan for Nutrition and Health. The number one suggestion for improving nutrition was breastfeeding. Contact Mary Pesik for more information. Or go to http://dhfs.wisconsin.gov/health/physicalactivity/index.htm .

The meeting was adjourned at 1320 PM.
